A man known as Alabo has been arrested by the Rivers State Police Command for allegedly attacking his female tenant and her husband with a machete on Ekwulobia Street in Mile 3, Diobu, Port Harcourt.

The incident, which took place on May 15, 2022, unfolded when the landlord pursued Comfort Nwagadi, who had reportedly rejected his romantic advances, and inflicted multiple machete wounds on her.

The landlord also assaulted the woman’s husband when he tried to rescue his wife, causing injuries to him as well.

Following the severe nature of his actions, the landlord fled the scene to avoid arrest.

However, after months of pursuit, the police successfully arrested Alabo on Sunday.

Mrs. Nwagadi, the victim, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, recalling the traumatic encounter where Alabo ambushed her in the compound, attacking her with a machete and causing injuries to her head and fingers.

“That day, he also attacked my husband who tried to intervene. Alabo cut him with the machete too and ran away that night. Since then, he had not been seen.

“But yesterday, the Azikiwe Road Police Division called that they had arrested him. Now that he has been arrested, all I want is justice,” she stated.

The case file was transferred from the Azikiwe Police Division to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department Unit of the command on the directive of the then Commissioner of Police.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the state Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said she would find out from the Azikiwe Police Station and get back to our correspondent.

She had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report on Monday evening.
