Ban DNA tests, they’re destroying marriages — Nigerian woman

A Nigerian woman has called for a ban on DNA paternity testing, claiming that the practice is contributing to broken marriages and strained family relationships.

She made the call in a video shared on X while questioning why married men would seek DNA tests for children born during their marriages if they trusted their wives.

According to her, husbands should accept children born within their marriages as their own, even when infidelity may have occurred.

She argued that men often overlook their own infidelity but react differently when a woman cheats and becomes pregnant. She maintained that marriage should mean accepting any child born into the family.

The woman also questioned why a man would marry a woman he did not trust enough to avoid seeking a DNA test.

She repeatedly blamed DNA testing for creating tension in homes and argued that banning the practice would help marriages survive and remain intact.

She further compared modern marriages with those of previous generations, noting that DNA testing was not common among their forefathers. In her view, children born within a home were traditionally accepted as belonging to the husband.

The woman also suggested that some cases of infidelity could be mistakes that a person regrets. She said a woman might conceal such an incident because she feared how her husband would react.

She questioned the purpose of conducting a DNA test when a husband’s priority was to maintain peace in his marriage, arguing that such a test could instead create a crisis within the family.

Her comments have generated reactions online, with users debating issues surrounding paternity, trust, infidelity, marriage and whether DNA testing protects or threatens family relationships.
