Zamfara: Gov Lawal, 14 others sign peace accord ahead of 2027 elections
Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal and 14 other governorship candidates have signed a peace accord to promote peaceful conduct ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The candidates signed the agreement during a Peace Accord and Election Security Summit organised by the Zamfara State Police Command in Gusau.
The agreement commits the candidates to respecting electoral processes and maintaining peace before, during and after the elections.
Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Mohammed Bello Daga, urged the candidates to avoid conduct that could undermine the electoral process.
He warned that political aspirants and party members who break the law would face prosecution.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police in the state, Kabir Abdul Randawa, also assured political parties and residents that the command would provide security for political activities.
Randawa urged candidates and political parties to reject intimidation, violence and other actions that could threaten peace in the state.
