Rufai Oseni: Fubara has been whipped back in line
Arise News anchor, Rufai Oseni, has said that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has been whipped back in line following recent political developments in the state.
Speaking on Arise Television’s The Morning Show on Wednesday, Oseni said the political crisis in Rivers State was driven by personal interests rather than the welfare of the people.
His comments followed Fubara’s appearance at the unveiling of the Rainbow Coalition’s candidates in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, where the governor presented the All Progressives Congress APC flag to Ogundu Kingsley Chinda, an ally of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 elections.
Fubara also acknowledged Wike as the political leader in Rivers State and urged those who had described him as their leader during the crisis to stop doing so.
Reacting to the development, Oseni said Fubara, who had been fighting to free himself from political godfatherism, had been forced to submit to powerful political interests.
“Fubara has been whipped back in line, and it is all about their interest and not the people of Rivers State,” Oseni said.
He argued that the peace moves and reconciliations being celebrated were not intended to benefit ordinary Rivers residents but to enable political elites to share power and resources.
Oseni added that the people of Rivers State were the ultimate losers in the political drama because their interests were not being considered.
