Senegal and Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has been named the best player at the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations held in Cameroon.

Mane scored the winning penalty in a pulsating final against the Pharaohs of Egypt led by his Liverpool teammate, Mohammed Salah.
He ended the tournament as Senegal’s topscorer with three goals whilst also assisting two more.

Meanwhile, Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy was named the winner of the competition’s Golden Glove award.

The Chelsea shot-stopper played in five of his country’s seven matches en route to becoming champions. He also kept three clean sheets.

Egypt goalkeeper Mohammed Abou Gabal was named the best player of the final, while Cameroon’s Vincent Aboubakar claimed the golden boot award as topscorer.

Aboubakar scored eight goals to help propel the host nation into the semifinals. Cameroon eventually lost on penalties to the Pharaohs of Egypt before clinching the bronze medal in the third-place playoff.
