Why many countries deny Nigerians visas – Peter Obi

The 2027 Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has attributed the denial of visas to Nigerians by some countries to the perception of poverty in the country.

Obi spoke at a town hall meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Thursday, where he said wealthy countries would not readily open their doors to people they perceive as poor.

He expressed confidence that Nigeria would undergo significant transformation under his leadership.

“No rich man will open their door for poor people, that’s why many countries are denying Nigerian visas.

“By the time we are done reforming Nigeria, Nigerians won’t like to be travelling outside like now. Even when they apply for a visa, they can easily get it,” he said.

Obi is seeking the presidency under the NDC in the 2027 election, with former Kano State governor, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, as his running mate.

The duo previously left the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in May, citing internal divisions and ongoing court cases.
